Two American companies want to start hydrocarbon mining in Ukraine

Two American companies, Frontera Resources and Longfellow made a proposal to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine to extract hydrocarbons in the Odessa and Poltava Oblasts, as reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.

“The Interdepartmental Commission has accepted for consideration the appeal of Frontera Resources (USA), as well as Longfellow (USA) for the implementation of hydrocarbon exploration and production projects including the non-traditional sources, within the subsoil plots offered by these companies in the Odessa and Poltava Oblasts respectively. The Commission requested to hold consultations on optimization of the size of the subsoil plot proposed by the Frontera Resources Company,” the report said.

The Commission recommended that Frontera, Longfellow and Navigator Komplekt hold a consultation with the relevant regional councils for the implementation of projects.

It was reported earlier that Mykola Foshchii, the First Deputy of State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine announced that preliminary results of audit of activity of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine "are not quite comforting."
