Switzerland sends 600 tons of humanitarian aid to the Donbas

The Swiss Embassy in Ukraine has sent 600 tons of humanitarian aid to the uncontrolled territory of the Donetsk region, as reported the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on their website.

“30 trucks from the Swiss Embassy went through Novotroitske checkpoint to the uncontrolled territory,” the message on the web site reads.

According to the information of the border guards, the trucks transported humanitarian cargo for residents of Donetsk region with a total weight of about 600 tons.

The website of the Ministry for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons reported that until June 8, Switzerland will send humanitarian aid to Separate Regions of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts worth $1.3 million.

“The cargo will be delivered to the territories that are not under Ukraine’s control. Humanitarian aid includes 1,650 tons of chemical reagents for water purification such as calcium hypochlorite, aluminum sulfate and others. It also includes medical equipment like ultrasonic devices, neonatal incubators, defibrillators and laboratory equipment for the diagnosis of tuberculosis. The total cost of this humanitarian aid is $1.3 million and it will take about 80 trucks to transport,” the Ukrainian Ministry for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons reported.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter plans to visit Mariupol during the transfer of aid in the city on June 6 and 7.
