Strelkov gives negative portrayal of leaders of pro-Russian separatists

Igor Strelkov (Girkin), the former Defense Minister of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic, gave a destructive description of the so-called DPR and LPR leaders in an interview with the Novorossiya movement’s website

“For two years they were in limbo, being a kind of a bargaining chip, which everybody wanted to return in exchange for uncertain preferences or some goods. It has led to the fact that favorites came to power, those who were chosen not on the basis of their professional or moral qualities, but because they were agreeable,” Strelkov noted.

According to him, this resulted in a situation where “the most ignoble and morally insane people” came to power.

“If people with blatant criminal tendencies are placed at the head of the Republic, everything is going to be bad. If the Republic is headed by corner shop owners and butchers, the country will be full of non-educated delinquents and small merchants. And the atmosphere will be the same as well,” Strelkov stated.

From May 12th to August 14th 2014, Strelkov was the Commander of the Armed Forces of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic, and from May 16th to August 14th, he was also the Defense Minister of the self-declared Republic.

After his resignation he has been engaged in activities in the community, often providing critical comments on DPR and LNR authorities and Russian policy regarding Ukraine.
