US State Department believes reports that Russia bombed hospital in Syria are accurate

A spokesperson for the United States Department of State, John Kirby, stated that the U.S. Department of State sees no reason to doubt the validity of reports stating that airstrikes were carried out on five hospitals and at least one mobile hospital in Syria.

“We saw reports from humanitarian organizations that airstrikes were carried out on five hospitals and at least one mobile hospital. We believe this data to be credible,” Kirby said at the briefing, adding that the United States received confirmation of this information from other sources. Kirby didn’t answer the clarifying question from a Russia Today correspondent about the names of these hospitals and who reported the airstrikes against them.

The spokesperson for the United States Department of State promised to provide this data after the briefing and suggested that the correspondent pose those questions to her own Ministry of Defense. In response to a comment by another journalist, who stated that his Russian colleague asks these questions because it is her job, Kirby noted that she works for the state-owned media outlet.

“I will not put Russia Today on an equal footing with the rest of the media outlets there,” Kirby said. The day before, another spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, Elizabeth Trudeau, claimed that the latest data shows that Russia carried out the airstrikes on five hospitals and one mobile hospital in Aleppo. Russian servicemen have denied these accusations.

“The repetition of rumors about the bombing of five hospitals and one mobile hospital only confirms that all public rhetoric of the U.S. Department of State regarding the situation in Syria is built on spurious lies,” the Chief Spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, stated.

“No matter how many times we called on them to provide facts, such facts were never provided to us, only mere allegations. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation emphasized that it has now been 28 days since the Russian Aerospace Forces halted airstrikes on Aleppo.
