Separatist from the so-called LPR is running for mayor in the Russian city of Ukhta

A separatist of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People`s Republic, Yegor Russian (Kozin), is running for Mayor of the Russian city of Ukhta in the Komi Republic. After the capture of Lutuhyne by separatists, he was commandant of the city.

As the Fourth Estate reports, he applied to the Competition Commission, which must determine the Head of the Municipal Administration of the urban district Ukhta (the mayor here is not elected, but appointed). On the 3rd of August, local deputies will make the decision on the new Head of the Administration of Ukhta.

The separatists also provided information about his background. In particular, he participated in the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008, and in his youth he worked at weddings as the master of ceremonies.

Yegor Russian came to fight in Luhansk oblast in the summer of 2014, when he joined the Zarya battalion under Igor Plotnitsky. After the capture of the city of Lutuhyne and the surrounding area, Plotnitsky appointed Russian as the “Mayor” of this city.

As it was previously reported, another separatist of the "LPR", Oleg Melnikov, who took part in the capture of Semenivka in the Donetsk region, is running for the State Duma of Russia.
