Russia says it has answered all US’s inquiries regarding interference in elections

Oleg Khramov, deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, said in an interview that Russia has answered all the questions coming from the US in connection with the accusations of Moscow interfering with American presidential elections and hacking the Democratic Party’s servers, Kommersant newspaper reports.

“The Russian state departments responded in a timely manner to all inquiries coming from foreign partners. Thus a response was given immediately, in November (2016). Additional information was requested, because the information contained in their first request was fuzzy and largely repeated media reports. Naturally, our competent authorities asked the partners to give specific IP addresses, attack signatures and so on,” Khramov noted.

He announced that the first inquiry arrived only a week after the November elections in the US.

“The second inquiry, containing additional information, came only at the start of this year. It was promptly given a detailed response,” the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council claims.

Talking about the content of the Russian responses, he stated that in the inquiries “there were specific questions which were given comprehensive responses, even of a technical nature”.

“As President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized, Russia does not interfere with the internal affairs of other states, including, of course, their electoral processes. There are examples of several other countries’ interference in the internal affairs of our country, but that is another matter altogether,” Khramov specified.

On January 6, US intelligence published a report accusing Russia of involvement in hacker attacks with the purpose of interfering with the presidential elections.
