NATO says its ready to strengthen its support of Ukraine

NATO has once again declared its firm position with regard to providing support to Ukraine in the country’s fight against the illegal and aggressive actions of Russia and Russia-supported separatists. The Alliance also showed a willingness to strengthen this support.

According to the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO, this was said by the Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, David Hobbs, during a meeting with the head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Iryna Friz.

“We have witnessed the readiness of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to strengthen this support”, the statement said.

Based on this, the issue of holding a future meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Ukraine-NATO Council in one of the eastern regions of Ukraine was discussed.

During the meeting, the interaction schedule, from now until the end of the year, was coordinated. The format of the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the autumn session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was also discussed. This session will be held in Istanbul.

It was previously reported that representatives of the NATO member states, during a meeting of NATO-Ukraine Commission ambassadors, declared the need to extend the sanctions against Russia until the country fully implements the Minsk Agreements.
