Media: A terrorist act near the Russian Embassy in Berlin was prevented at the last moment

The German Sunday newspaper, Bild am Sonntag, reports that a terrorist act near the Russian Embassy in Berlin on April 10th was prevented at the last moment.

The newspaper notes that a Moroccan citizen called Mohammed H., who is suspected of planning the terrorist act, discussed the attack on social networks. Last Saturday, he was going to walk among demonstrators in front of the Russian embassy and commit an act of terrorism. Thus, the supposed attack was prevented just one day before its implementation, the newspaper notes.

Police are currently reviewing data from the suspect's mobile phone, where they hope to find evidence of the planned attack.

Last Friday, the German special services informed the federal police department, police stations in Saxony and Berlin, and the Foreign Ministry about the planned terrorist act.

Leipzig police detained the 24-year-old Moroccan who planned to commit an act of terror near the Russian Embassy in Berlin. According to preliminary information, the detainee, Mohammed B.H., planned to carry out an attack at a protest rally. However, according to law enforcement officers, it is not clear what the young man wanted to accomplish. The newspaper notes that nothing is known about the detainee’s motives. However, according to one source, the attack could be connected with Syria.
