Israel, Russia and U.S. will discuss Syrian issue in Vienna

Israel, Russia and the U.S. will discuss the Syrian issue in Vienna. Representatives of these countries will meet and clarify details concerning the de-escalation zone in southwest Syria, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant.

“We will support any attempts to de-escalate the situation both in the whole territory of Syria and in the southwest of the country. Of course, it is too early to give a more detailed assessment, because at this stage we do not have enough accurate data, important details that, as far as I know, should be clarified at the meeting of the Israeli, Russian and American teams in Vienna,” said Lieberman.

He also added that, in Israel’s view, Iran plays a destructive role in the settlement of the problems in Syrian. “Iran is now turning all of Syria, including the south, into a foothold against Israel. We are not ready to allow this, we are not ready to put up with this. Therefore, we are trying to ensure that their influence is not there. This is one of the main conditions on which we insist,” said Lieberman.
