Groysman: Scholarships for Ukrainian students will be increased significantly

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Groysman, stated that student scholarships will be increased by 2.5 times, as reported on the government’s website. As a result “A” students, and those in skill shortage areas, will get increased scholarships.

"Our proposal is that academic scholarships to be fairly distributed with the involvement of student government. Under this proposal, those who received 800 UAH (30 USD), will receive no less than 1,100 (42 USD), and “A” students will get 1,600 UAH (61 USD), Students with specific specializations, engineering for example, will get approximately 2,000 hryvnia (76 USD)," Groysman said.

The total expenditures for scholarships in the draft budget for 2017 is almost 6 billion hryvnia (22 million USD). Since 2017, it has been anticipated that all high achieving students will receive scholarships, but not necessarily all “A” students.
