EU to allocate 20 million Euros for infrastructure projects in Ukraine

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, Jan Tombiński, stated at a briefing on May 24th that the European Union will provide 20 million euros to Ukraine for the implementation of infrastructure projects, a correspondent of RBC-Ukraine reported.

“Additional financial support in the amount of 20 million Euros will be possible,” Tombiński said. "As partners of Ukraine, we can provide assistance only to those who do something and help to wisely direct our assistance. The part of transport is recorded in the Association Agreement. It is a great work for the Ministry to help Ukraine develop its capacity. There can be no economic development without transport.”

Tombiński also reported that Ukraine will receive funding from the EU on simplified conditions. "The European banks grant loans and the European Union provides so that money could be transferred to the country regardless Ukraine’s ranking,” he stressed. He later added that the Ministry of Infrastructure will have to produce certain documents once the money has been received.

As previously reported, the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate up to 28 million Euros for the support of small and medium businesses in Ukraine.
