'Charity Funds of the Russian Prime Minister' publish financial statements for the first time showing billions in expenditures
The charity funds, which are considered part of the "secret empire" of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, have published their financials for the first time. This was reported by the founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund and the leader of the Russian opposition, Alexey Navalny, who earlier published a high-profile investigation on the wealth of the head of the Russian government.
Reporting for the funds Gradislava, Sotsgosproekt, Dar and the Fund for the Support of Winter Olympic Sports have appeared on the website of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. In total, the four funds reported expenditures of 3.7 billion rubles ($70 million USD) for 2016.
The Dar Fund (1.5 billion rubles), as a result, immediately became the second largest charity fund in the country after "Give Life". If you count all four organizations from the "secret empire" as one common fund, Medvedev immediately became the leader in charity in Russia.
There are no details on expenses in the reporting. The documents only indicate that the money went to ongoing activities.
