Antonov aircraft will be equipped with Canadian avionics from Esterline CMC Electronics

Canadian company Esterline CMC Electronics will supply modern avionics for AN-124 and AN-148/158/178 aircraft. The Antonov State Company management that is a part of state concern Ukroboronprom signed two corresponding contracts with representatives from the Canadian company. This happened at the Farnborough Air Show-2016 in the United Kingdom.

According to the terms of the first contract, Esterline CMC Electronics will supply a CMA-9000 (FMS) flight control system, GPS CMA-5024 sensors and a MFD-2068 multi-functional display in dual configuration for the AN-124 aircraft upgrade. The second contract ensures that Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers will get a CMA-9000 flight control system and MFD-3068 multi-functional displays for the production of AN-148/158/178 aircrafts for commercial and military purposes.

“We are very proud that Antonov State Company chose our avionics systems for this family of aircrafts. This is a confirmation of our main expertise in navigation systems and the world recognition,” the president of Esterline CMC Electronics, Michel Potvin, stated. The latest generation of the CMA-9000 flight control system will provide Antonov transport aircraft with multi-sensor navigation and enhance operational capabilities.

Great capabilities of navigation of the CMA-9000 database provide flexible and, at the same time, global operations that allow aircraft to ensure the most effective use of airspace. Antonov aircraft will meet the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and standards of International Civil Aviation Organization for communication, navigation and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM).

The corresponding system from Esterline CMC Electronics is used by more than 60 military and civil operators. On July 11, Ukraine signed a Free Trade Agreement with Canada. The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Stepan Kubiv, and the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Chrystia Freeland, signed the historic document in the capital of Ukraine.

The Farnborough Airshow-2016 is an exhibition dedicated to aircrafts of all types and purposes, aircraft and space engines, satellites, repair and technical maintenance of aviation equipment, radars, surveillance systems and ground-based equipment, etc. The exhibition takes place every two years and it is one of the biggest in the world.
