Ex-defense Minister of Poland: restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty is a priority

The former Polish Defense Minister stressed that Moscow does not have any special rights in Europe or anywhere else in the world. Macierewicz assured that Poland will never accept Russia’s attempts to redraw the borders of Ukraine.  “Ukraine is an important, independent state whose interests should be respected as well as the interests of any other country.  And the restoration of its territorial integrity remains a priority for Poland,” the former Polish Defense Minister, Antoni Macierewicz stated on Polish radio.

He added that today Warsaw continues to help Kyiv.

"Our support is material but, above all, a political one,” the former Polish Minister said.

He also cautioned that Russia’s actions should not be accepted, in particular, their attempts to redraw borders in Europe.

"The Russian Federation has no special rights in Europe and in the world, and Poland will never accept such a situation," Macierewicz said.

Earlier the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Witold Waszczykowski, stated Russia’s aggression against Ukraine will be a challenge in 2018. He noted that the war in the Donbas affects not only Ukraine.
