Erdogan promises to support Ukraine’s sovereignty

Turkey continues to maintain and develop strategic relations with Ukraine, stated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his congratulations to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and to Ukrainians on the 27th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

“Our relationship with Ukraine as a strategic partner is strengthening in every industry and the long-standing friendship between our people is deepening every day. We are happy to see a mutual desire at bringing our cooperation to an even higher level. Turkey will continue to support the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” said Erdogan in his message.

The Turkish President invited Poroshenko to visit his country and to hold the next meeting of the high-level Strategic Council in autumn. He also made good wishes for the Ukrainian people’s welfare and well-being.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium, Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove, Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and other world leaders congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day.
