DPR ‘thanks’ Right Sector leader for information on killers of commander Mamai

Journalist Zakhar Prilepin says that he does not doubt the reliability of the information provided by Dmytro Yarosh, former head of the Right Sector, concerning the death of Oleg Mamiyev, commander of the Pyatnashka battalion, RBC news agency reports.

“What Yarosh wrote is really true. Yarosh is a serious person. They do not hesitate and are not worried about their safety, but of course, we are not worried either,” Prilepin said.

Earlier the leader of the Right Sector posted on Facebook the call signs of the Ukrainian soldiers who were involved in taking out Mamiyev. His post was cited by TSN.

“The separatists have one less brigade commander. He came from North Ossetia to establish his Russian-Ossetian world on our Ukrainian soil, and now he is burning in hell. This awaits all incomers and their local minions who have decided to destroy our State. Thank you to battalion commander ‘Chorny’, company commander ‘Rambo’ and to ‘Kipish” for their professional and good-quality work! Keep it up!” Yarosh said in his post.
Zakhar Prilepin thanked Yarosh on Facebook: “Yarosh, thank you for the service.”

“I thank you, comrade ensign. And we have been going to look into it. And here you are. Impressive stuff!” Prilepin wrote.

On Friday May 18, the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said that battalion commander Oleg Mamiyev (a.k.a. “Mamai”) had been killed by Ukrainian soldiers near Donetsk. Another DPR soldier was killed alongside him.

A VGTRK (All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company) film crew headed by military correspondent Alexander Slankov also came under fire, which resulted in the sound operator Igor Uklein being injured.
