Ukraine forms new tactical aviation brigade

At the beginning of 2018, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formed one more tactical aviation brigade, as reported by the press service of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"On January 1, 2018, one of the oldest aviation units of the Air Force, a fighter aviation squadron, deployed in Ozerne in the Zhytomyr region was reorganized. It became a tactical aviation brigade. Earlier, the military unit had such a status, but as a result of the reduction process it was reorganized into a separate air squadron," the report says.

The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that in the 1990s the regiment carried out combat duty as part of the framework of the air defense system using MiG-23MLD aircraft, and later on MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft. At the same time, there was a significant shortage of resources for flights.

"But now everything has changed. There are resources to prepare the flight crew, there is fuel and there is also a sufficient number of functioning aircraft, as the fleet is being constantly replenished. And this trend concerns not only for this aviation unit," the Air Force command of Armed Forces noted.

The brigade already began to form security and logistics units and materials and technical needs are being prepared.
