  • NATO to conduct largest military exercises since 1991

    On Tuesday, October 2, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg announced that NATO will conduct large-scale military exercises Trident Juncture, which will be the largest since 1991, reports Deutsche Welle.

  • NATO to conduct large-scale military exercises near Russian borders

    In October 2018, NATO countries will conduct large-scale military exercises at Russian borders involving 45,000 personnel, RIA Novosti reports, citing General Robert Neller, the 37th Commandant of the US Marine Corps.

    Neller did not specify exactly where the exercises would be conducted but he expressed confidence that Russia would respond to them. "There may be 45,000 NATO troops and dozens of ships and aircraft that will conduct exercises off the coast of Norway against the simulated threat." …

  • Germany will triple the number of troops in NATO exercises to keep Russia in check

    In 2018, three times more military personnel from Germany will take part in NATO exercises to contain Russia, reported Spiegel Online, citing as a source a statement from the German Ministry of Defense.

    Plans are for 12,000 German soldiers to participate in the exercises on the eastern and northern flanks of NATO.

    The cost for the German military to participate in the exercises will be €90 million. In 2017, 4,000 Bundeswehr soldiers participated in the NATO exercises.

    NATO’s latest large military exercise “Silver Arrow 2017” was launched in Latvia, according to the website of Latvia’s Ministry of Defense.

  • Latvia begins senior NATO officer staff exercises

    On Sunday, September 10, the Steadfast Pyramid 2017 and Steadfast Pinnacle 2017 exercises for the senior and high ranking NATO staff began at the National Defense Academy of Latvia in Riga. The exercises involve more than 40 officers from alliance member states and partner states – Finland and Sweden, the internet portal tv.net reports.
