  • Iraqi Kurds hope for more weapons from Russia

    Iraqi Kurds are expecting the delivery of hundreds of Russian ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns, according to a representative of northern Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Moscow, Aso Talabani, as reported by Interfax.

    On March 14th, Russia gave the Kurdish Peshmerga forces five such anti-aircraft installations.

  • Russia supplies Kurdish Peshmerga with weapons

    Russia has supplied Iraqi Kurds with five ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns, as reported by RIA Novosti.  The weapons were transferred on March 14th in the presence the Russian Consulate General and Russian Ambassador, as well of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

  • Turkey will not withdraw troops from Iraq

    Turkey is not going to withdraw its military from Northern Iraq despite the demands of Baghdad, which regards Turkish presence on its territory  as a "military invasion.”  According to Reuters’ sources, the Turkish authorities began negotiations with the Iraqi Ministry of Defence, but their result was "already predetermined.”

    According to the U.S. top military officer, Iraq is not planning to turn to Russia for airstrikes and other military assistance in its fight against Islamic State militants.
