Latvia bans broadcasts of channel RTR-Russia for inciting hatred towards Ukrainians
The National Electronic Mass Media Council of Latvia or NEPLP has restricted the Russian television channel RTR-Russia from broadcasting in the country for three months. European Court of Human Rights obliges Russia to pay 10 million Euros for expulsion of Georgian citizens in 2006
By sixteen votes to one, the judges of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) have ruled that Russia should pay 10 million Euros to Georgia, as stated the organization's message published on the website on Thursday, January 31. This compensation is for moral damage suffered by at least 1.5 thousand Georgians expelled from Russia in 2006. The decision of the Grand Chamber is final and not subject to appeal.

Media: US steps up pressure on EU regarding Nord Stream 2
The US has stepped up the pressure on EU countries to halt the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the German newspaper Handelsblatt reports, citing an anonymous White House official.
Despite the cold winter months, work on the German-Russian gas pipeline has continued. One third of the 1,230 km gas pipeline has already been laid on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, and the construction is scheduled to finish by the end of the year.

Czech Republic investigates its citizens’ involvement in Donbas war
The Czech Republic is investigating the involvement of at least 10 of its citizens in combat in support of the so-called Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics (LPR & DPR) in eastern Ukraine.
The Czech news outlet Denik N reported that a Czech by the name of Pavel K traveled to the Donbas through Russia at 22 years of age, and stayed there between the summer of 2015 and May 2016.

Russia and Turkey lead in the number of lawsuits filed against these countries in the European Court of Human Rights. Russia leads Turkey twofold.
In 2018, Russia, led by a large margin in the number of lawsuits filed in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). As reported by the ECHR chairman Guido Raimondi there were 12150 complaints filed against the Russian Federation. Turkey is in second place with 6700.
