    Syrian President, Bashar Hafez al-Assad, has no plans to attend the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF), scheduled for this April, reports the Russian news agency TASS with reference to Syria's ambassador in Moscow, Riyad Haddad.

  • Damascus: Syria is ready for war with Israel

    Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad sent an official warning to Christine Lund, the Head of the UNTSO, the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization between Israel on one side and Syria and Lebanon on the other.

  • Syrian Ambassador to Russia: Assad will not visit annexed Crimea

    Syrian President Bashar Assad is unlikely to attend the Yalta International Economic Forum in April, stated Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad, as quoted by Russian media.

    The forum will be held on April 17-20.

  • Germany demands extradition of Assad's associate from Lebanon

    Berlin has asked Beirut to extradite Jamil Hassan, former head of Syria’s Air Force Intelligence, Der Spiegel reported on Sunday 17 February. German Public Prosecutor Peter Frank has accused Hassan of crimes against humanity, systematic torture and the killing of prisoners.

    Russia announced that French politician Marine Le Pen and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would visit annexed Crimea and take part in economic forum in Yalta as guests of honor.

  • Putin and Netanyahu to discuss Iranian presence in Syria

    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow later this month, to discuss Iranian presence in Syria.

    Negotiations on February 21st will be devoted to Israel’s efforts to prevent Iran from creating a “new [ant-Israeli] front on the other side of Golan Heights,” Netanyahu said on Tuesday.

    Moscow has not yet confirmed that the meeting would take place.

  • Israel strikes Iranian military bases in Syria

    According Syrian sources, Israeli aircraft entered Lebanese airspace at low altitude and then carried a missile attack on military facilities near Damascus. At least three Syrian soldiers were injured during the attack.

    The Syrian state agency SANA confirmed that the air attack was carried out by the Israeli Air Force. According to SANA, some of the missiles were intercepted, but several Syrian soldiers were injured.

  • Assad plans to visit the Crimea in 2019

    President of Syria Bashar al-Assad plans to visit the Crimea in April 2019 and is holding negotiations on the beginning of a commercial airline route between Syria and the Black Sea peninsula, TASS reported.

    Members of the Crimean Delegation visited Syria this week, including the Russian Prime Minister of the Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov. The Crimea is under Western sanctions imposed after Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014.
